A Note For Naturals

  1. Hair Typing Is Virtually Useless
    1. Barely use this as a guideline. What you need to know is how dry is your hair and how to moisturize and balance. THERE ARE SOOOO many types of hair and factors that truly make up the difference. What looks the same, may not behave the same. AT ALL.
  2. No 2 Heads are the same!
    1. Don't want for something you'll never have. When God created our hair, it was somewhat like a fingerprint. They may look similar just "looking on", but NOBODY'S is the same.
  3. If you want the best out of YOUR hair...LEARN IT.
  4. Get rid of any info you have acquired about hair completely (the relaxed days)
    1. Relaxed hair is a complete FLIP from your natural.
    2. Go ahead and treat your hair the exact same way and see what happens..:D
  5. Trial and Error is OKAY! Epic-ally Failing is GREAT!
    1. Failing is okay, this is when you learn what to do and how to perfect! This is how you become an expert on your hair.
    2. Other people can only give you an outline about your hair. Its up to you to fill in the actual pages of your hairstory.
  6. The deal with Hair "Systems"
    1. I have learned that buying the WHOLE product line all with different uses, is typically a marketing scheme.
    2. Find what works! If you love a particular line, GREAT, but YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT ALL UP. Finding what works (singular items) can become expensive enough. Buying random items AND hair systems to experiment with, eventually gets ridiculous and confusing and tossed to the side anyhow...catch my drift?
  7. Determining Factors that makes everyone's hair different:
    1. Hair Density (The WHOLE head of hair entirely)
    2. Hair STRAND Density (Fine-Normal-Thick/Coarse)
    3. Dryness of Hair
    4. Hair Color
    5. Actual curl pattern under running water
      1. When curly/kinky hair drys, it does have the tendency to appear the same.
  8. Listen to your hair
    1. This is sort of hard to do if someone else is always in it. This especially goes for people who never really took care of their hair before, when relaxed. Try.
    2. Learn when your hair is dry and needs moisture.
    3. Learn when your hair and scalp is dirty.
    4. Get to know your hair at its driest and learn how to build moisture from there.
  9. YOUR HAIR CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO DO!!
    1. Yes, your hair may take more effort than another persons (or not), but most styles are achievable, with the right tools and products. Don't believe the lies.
    2. Your hair IS versatile. At one point, I didn't used to believe that, like I didn't believe it AT ALL. But when I think about it, I've done WAY more with my natural hair than I have EVER done with my relaxed.

Two Things That Changed My Skin Life! Forever.

A.) The Body Shop:
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

Product Claims: "Tone your skin with a new "shake to activate" refreshing toner that removes traces of cleanser, make-up and impurities while leaving skin looking matte."
Price: $11.00

My Review: Worth way more than $11.00, but I definitely love the price for what you get in return. I saw a difference in my skin after 1 use...like a real difference. Also this stuff doesn't dry out your skin, which is MAJOR for my already dry skin.

The Body Shop carries a variety of toners, but I particularly chose the Tea Tree line specifically for its antibacterial properties. Lastly I've been using this stuff on my DARK..DARK neck lol (nothing wrong with dark but it was like 12 shades darker than my face LOL..not cool)..HUGE difference. This product made me a customer for life.

Just 2-3 squirts is enough.
Don't deprive yourself. ;)

B.) Yes To Blueberries:
Brightening Facial Towelettes

Product Claims: "Formulated with Blueberries and Coconuts to gently cleanse, remove makeup and moisturize skin all in one. With Lemon Peel and Apple to help brighten skin, these are a great addition to our Age Refresh collection. They leave your skin feeling clean and glowy!"
         www.ulta.com
**I got mine from a local Walmart, I'm pretty sure these things are almost everywhere. Just Look!
Price: $7.99 (a little cheaper at WalMart)

My Review: I was looking for facial cleansing wipes as an easy to wipe down my face right before bed...the lazy days. This is definitely GENTLE, not made for heavy make-up removal. BUT! It DOES brighten the skin! The packaging says 'Age refresher' YOUNGER SKIN PEOPLE! DO NOT pass this up because of its labeling. This stuff changed my skin within a weeks time AT THE MOST. EVERYONE makes mention on how bright my skin looks. I also use this on my neck. This is a forevermore KEEPER. I use it once a day, day or night, probably 4 out of 7 days of the week. Life changing stuff.

The cloth and formula is too gentle for heavy make-up removal in my opinion.
But its GREAT for everyday use and skin brightening.

Random Thought

You know, I just don't think I'm cool enough for a fedora...not yet. Its not my time.....lol

I bought a ticket to the Diorshow!

THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE. BRACE YOURSELF.

I recently had a lash crash where I was COMPLETELY bored with my lashes. My eyes just weren't doin' it for me, but I didn't want to hail to the falsies. So one Friday, after numerous eye burning sessions that MAC "Zoom Lash" gave me, I toted myself to Sephora, studying mascaras much longer than anyone ever should, I was on a mission. I purchased Sephora's best seller:

Diorshow Mascara
Product Claims: Sephora says this is "A cult-followed mascara that leaves lashes, ultra-thick, long and curled."
Product Description: Blah Blah Blah
Price: $24.50

Let me just say, when I purchased this I was geeked up! I just knew I had found a new love. BUT! When I actually applied the mascara it was SUCH A LET DOWN. Feeling "let-down" doesn't even accurately describe my emotion. First off the brush is GINORMOUS, which (at Sephora) lead me to believe that I would get some volume and drama, something you can slap on for a night-out event and let your eyes show out!...No. It was like putting a hair brush to my lashes, and even after numerous applications, also done in different ways, I was still very unimpressed. What's funny is my Bf later told me, she had the same complaints with a different Dior mascara she bought months before I purchased mine. To be real, I wanted to go the drug store and pick up an old old old faithful with predictable performance for less than half the price:

 Great Lash:

After total shock in the performance of the Diorshow, I kept thinking HOW could it have possibly failed me? Everyone loved this crap! lol jk, but seriously it came highly recommended, how? Then I thought, maybe it didn't show too well because of two factors:

1. Maybe it didn't show too well up against my skin tone?
2. Maybe it didn't perform miraculously because my eyelashes are naturally curly...like really curly. Thanks Ma and Pa!
....I'm not too sure.

To sum things up, I returned it. I'm sorry but I wouldn't recommend Diorshow to anyone.

"Natural Hair" Spill

GOING NATURAL?

OK! I HATE THE TERM "GOING NATURAL". I am sorry but I do, ALWAYS did! Even when I made the decision to lose the relaxer, for me it was like God-sent for many reasons and honestly I didn't even know such a thing was possible...stupid me and my small town syndrome! So, Yes! I am relaxer-free, so this gives me the right to say my piece....I am BEYOND over "the natural" trend, the obsession with "natural" hair etc, REASON BEING, Relaxer-Free hair should NOT be treated as a "thing to do", why?  If you are mid-late 80's baby/ 90's baby, you KNOW, we have grown up in a society, whose media has always directed the idea of beauty as, long, relaxed straight flowing sleek hair. Poufy FULL hair was not it. We all wanted this...
RIP Aaliyah
Much Loved. Never Forgotten.
BUT IT IS TRUE!
This especially goes for the small-med sized cities that do EVERYTHING that they are told to by people and media due to the lack of culture and original thought! Going "natural" is not only a physical transformation but it is also a mental one too. Believe it or not, trend or not, people ARE going to view you a bit differently, and the looks and stares change, whether its in admiration, confusion or that stank face people give, you know that...

Or the....

OR BETTER YET!!! The....

Yeah, it happens, and it WILL happen to you too. Fret not! People will also LOVE it! *breath*  But its true, adjusting your mind to the physical change can be abrupt and maybe uneasy, because you've always looked a certain way. Relaxer-Free hair is bigger than seeing a curly-do and saying "HEY, I want that!! I'm gonna grow my hair out" NEWSFLASH: Everybody's hair is different, so what you see on one head, will differ from yours and what works for me, may not work for you. Period. If you are a "flighty" person, save yourself the trouble, if it aint broke....
Smh

I'm certainly not saying that you should NOT "go natural" (regaining dignity lol), TURN BACK!! Because honestly relaxer-free hair IS gorgeous, and I mean hair with TEXTURE, there is NOTHING like it. It will do whatever you want it to do! Honestly. BUT! There is a catch....and I'm not one to lie, it WILL take effort and some work, and patience, TRUST! Especially if you do it on your own. Folks don't want to tell you that, but with such beauty, comes a price! "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required" -Luke 12:48....BAhahahahaha! Did I just get biblical!?! THAT JUST HAPPENED! *Talladega Nights" LOL. I'm just kidding guys...I ALWAYS had a stylist in my head since I was 12, so I had not a single clue as to what my hair felt like or truly needed and I'm talking permed hair. The maintenance of my "natural hair" was (shamefully said) a little overwhelming. At one time, I used to FREAK at new growth, because it was SO strong and thick and then I do THIS to myself!
LOL
Yes I Am a Relaxer-Free Dork too...deal with me.lol
Don't You just HATE when people do this to their photos!!
"I'm sorry...that is not cool."

A little Better.
(I really wanted to lowkey show-off my new nail polish from MAC, review & pics later)
Yeah...I could've brushed this hair out more but I was getting ready to go to bed..
WHO ASKED YOU ANYWAY lol!

OK I had more to say, but I forgot and this post is getting long, soooooooo hey! Like I said I am RELAXER-FREE...not "Going Natural" lol and BTW there were relaxer-free folk WAY before the Cahoot! So why is it such a big deal now, why does it have to be made known that your "natural"...really?... (lowkey) that gets annoying.

No Offense to anyone, but this picture is SO spankin funny
She should have picked a different girl to be in the face of the Press

I Am A Woman Of Many Colors

Pic from: www.lifehacker.com
Abstract Aurora and Color Spectrum Wallpapers

It truly just dawned on me that I am a woman of many colors, I wear many hats! I used to always believe a Jack of All trades Masters Nothing, but some ppl like me, are into various trades, perfecting the variety within us, me. I've never been the kid that had, ONE dream, and at a point in my life, I was disturbed by that fact. Disturbed by the fact that I had many dreams and I am filled with passions, plural. Often times it's hard for people to understand because it seems infinitive and impossible to accomplish anything, improbable. But as I am  shedding old skin and growing into a bigger, better, vital me, I have learned to just except that I am, what I am. I love variety and I love choices. I take any and every opportunity that has or had been given to me and I constantly learn and somehow find ways to apply them.  I am not one of those fly by night people that can't keep two thoughts together, easily distracted, while filled with the inability to commit to anything, because in everything that I do, I am committed and I am faithful.  Its just getting to the place where I can joyously commit myself to things that my heart longs for, getting to the place where everything I do, matters. I hope that I am not TOO left field for anyone lol but this is a tangent from the heart, hopefully its somehow relate-able, if not, carry on! *in my Bernadette Peters voice* lol....Have a good one folk.

Water For Elephants

We always hear the same line "Best film of The Year"
annnnnnd its April, what a conclusion....but I may have to agree with the speculation.
This one will be hard to top in this genre.

NITTY GRITTY:
I decided to write this review as I am inspired to...'Water For Elephants' is one of the BEST movies I have ever seen, and trust me I am VERY intermixed with my movies, I'm a serial movie go-er, its probably my favorite thing to do. Also that was the longest sentence EVER lol. Furthermore, I would rate this movie WAY over the highly popular love story, 'The Notebook'....yes 'The Notebook'. Why? 'Water For Elephants' is more than a love story, alongside its vibrant and solid storyline, its very rich in detail, and transitions. This movie caters to a broader audience with suspense, love reality, fantasy, feud and not to mention the Ammmazing photography..whoever the director is gets HUGE UPS! I don't even want to take the time to look them up, being that I am so inspired and I want to spew this out as I am feeling it! Every bit of this movie was well put together. I promise that at some point you will be awed, no matter who you are or what you like. The only way I could imagine someone not being marked SOMEHOW ,by this movie, whether its throughout the movie or just a tidbit, is if you TRIED NOT TO be marked. I know thats setting the bar high, but hey, it inspired me to write a review and this is coming from a person who's inspiration for anything is literally hanging by a thread! Don't try to decide whether you want to see the movie according to the overview bc its a downplay, just GO SEE IT! All in all this movie gets my utmost love. Seriously, don't deprive yourself of this timeless piece.
